It’s not big news that Colorado’s manufacturing industry has been on the rise for several years now. As more and more manufacturing companies are added to the game, the complexity of the local business agenda continues to increase, and that’s just good news for everyone living or trying to set up a business in Colorado.
Recently, however, the momentum of the manufacturing increase has moved to the north of Colorado, where Greeley, Fort Collins and a better part of Denver’s metropolitan area are thriving. Over the past few years there has been a high demand for industrial hydraulic lines and other types of industrial machinery. In Denver alone, manufacturing jobs are on the increase, as last year there were 3.7% more jobs in the industry than in 2015. Also, Greeley and Fort Collins have experienced an even more pronounced growth, with 4% and 6.1% increases, respectively.
This improvement has led to a decrease in activity in places like Colorado Springs and Pueblo. Here, and in several other places in Colorado’s southern areas, manufacturing companies have began to withdraw their influence, which led to fewer jobs in manufacturing and a slightly diminished interest.
There are still many companies that bet on Colorado Springs, and so far the decrease in employment of 2.9% isn’t too problematic. Changing oil and gas prices are considered the main incentives behind these changes, but according to most experts, the North Colorado employment increase will likely work to create a greater overall balance for the entire state during the next 1-2 years.
